My boyfriend and l are going to be moving in together and l have a 2 yr old neutered male cat. He has 2 spaded female cats(they are sisters) that are 1 1/2 yrs old. l have brought them together before but my cat seemed very threatened and even tried to swat at them. The females seem fine around other animals especially dogs. I am just worried because l do not want my male to hurt the females.

How should I integrate my male cat and my boyfriend's 2 female cats when we move in

Jasmine to the rescue! There r several things u can do to help this situation. Have u thought of feliway? Its a feline phermone spray that helps cats to feel relaxed naturally u spray it round the house u cant smell anything but cats superior noses certainly can! Also try distraction techniques like introducing them in a room & have one in a cat carrier or cage then the other u give food to a tasty treat. This means the cat will associate the other cat with good things & then gradually the locked in cat can be let out in the room with the other cat. Dont lock the cat up all day this is just when u r introducing. i recommend yourcat.co.uk for cat advice its sort of where i got mine & from being a cat artist!

Treat as if u r bringing in any new cat. Be sure all nails r clipped while together.

The new cat should be kept in one room with his own litter pan, food & water dishes for awhile (a week). Let them get to know each other by smell without meeting face to face.

Then after a day or two put the 2 females in his room & allow him out to explore the house. If things r going well, put him in a carrier & put him in another room where everyone can investigate without touching. Expect them to hiss at each other.

Before letting them actually interact, sprinkle all with cornstarch baby powder in the coat & rub it in. This will make them all smell the same to each other. Supervise their time together & separate when not there to watch everyone. After a few weeks they should be better with each other, but it could take a few months before everyone gets along without supervision.

I brought a new cat home to my neutered male. He was very upset & they fought every time they were together. I separated them while I was gone, & supervised them together. It was a mess for about two weeks, then finally my cat accepted him. Now, u can not separate them. They bathe each other, & take naps curled up together. It just takes time & patience. Definitely separate them when u r gone. Plus, I think it is easier for a male cat to get a long with a female. He might want to be the ''tom cat'' & rule over the females. Your little man might turn out to be the stud around the house. Good luck!

Before you introduce the animals to each other you can take a damp cloth and rub it over your male to get his scent on it. Take it and run it on both the females. (Do the same thing to your cat too) Do this on multiple occasions. It gets them used to the scent of another animal so when it comes to live with them it wo not be as much of a shock.
